Generations of artists and fans who enjoyed the career of Michael Jackson today mourn the death of the artist, who contrasted his musical talent with eccentricities.
At the same time, an investigation has opened to determine the causes of the cardiac arrest that has stopped his life at 50 years. Brian Oxman, a personal friend of Michael Jackson and attorney for the singer's family has suggested that the King of Pop may have abused prescription meds.
Oxman told to CNN that Jackson, while preparing for the concert that was scheduled on July 13 in London, was taking medications to treat a broken vertebra and leg that he injured because of a fall on stage .
Jackson family members say that the singer was using "a large dose of morphine just before his death", as the website TMZ claimed.
The artist's father, Joe Jackson, recently wanted to take his son to a rehabilitation center in Palmdale (California), for what he considered an "addiction" to morphine and prescription drugs.
TMZ also affirmed that a close member of the Jackson family said the singer received a daily injection of Demerol, a narcotic similar to morphine, and on Thursday, the day of his death, had received an injection on 11:30 local time .
The person close to the artist added that the dose was "too much" and that was the cause of death.
Moreover, the portal added that the authorities are seeking the personal physician of Jackson, who was at home at the time of the artist's death. The doctor, who may have supplied the injection of demerol, is unaccounted for.
